OUR SOLAR SYSTEM UNIT

Hi there. My unit about "The Solar System" is addressed to 2nd level of primary education (Science). 

The main goal of this unit is to learn about the Earth and Moon in the Solar System as well as its movements and their consequences. 

The objectives of the unit are: 
To learn about the Sun, the Earth, the Moon and their relevant movements.
To understand the phases of the Moon.
To be able to describe the Earth’s movements and the existence of seasons.
To investigate about the shapes of the Moon.
To investigate about the reasons for day and night
To use information and communication technologies in order to look for information by following some Internet links.
To sing songs and make artistic works.

The unit will consist of 7 sessions, being the last one to record a video clip.

Along these sessions,  the activities and final task students will do are the following ones: 
A mural with the phases of the moon, using Oreo cookies.
Listening about the planets.
Labelling the planets.
Singing songs and raps.
Cutting and sticking pictures to show the phases of the moon.
Investigating if the moon changes shape.
Listening and reading about the Earth’s orbit around the Sun.
Acting out the solar system.
Cut-out activity: Sticking the phases of the moon in order.
Investigating and writing about day and night.
Identifying the seasons and labelling photos of them.
Saying a chant about months and listening, reading and writing about the seasons.
Doing a class survey about their favourite season.
Play Sentence and flashcard match.
Moon mural.
Art: Day and night picture.
Drama: Seasons role play.
Design: Make a model.
Record a video clip with “The Solar System” song.
